MTME Mechanical Techniques - Marine Engine Mechanic

Do you love to MAKE WAVES?

Do you love to take to the open water? Are you crazy about boats? It is possible to combine that love of boats with a career you will love. Our Marine Engine Mechanic program will teach you how to diagnose and service boat engines and marine systems, giving you the skills for a lifetime on and near the water.

What's special?

We have a great facility, located on our Orillia campus at the junction of Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching, home of many a marina. We'll give you hands on instruction on the latest equipment provided by leading manufacturers. In addition to learning two and four-stroke technology, working on outboard and sterndrive engines, you learn about environmental issues, customer service and business operations. You could take advantage of the opportunity to participate in Manufacturers Service Technician Training schools while studying at Georgian or as an employed graduate you can come back to Georgian to attend Professional Development courses in cooperation with Manufacturers and/ or the Ontario Marine Operators Association (OMOA).

 

Careers

Grads from the Marine Engine Mechanic program are in a great position, as job postings can outnumber graduates three to one. Jobs are found in marine dealerships, sales, service, manufacturing or starting your own business.

MTSE Mechanical Techniques - Small Engine Mechanic

Small engines - big career

Do you love to hit the trails in an ATV or snowmobile? Do you thrive on the challenge of figuring out what is wrong and then servicing small engines and mechanical equipment? Ever thought of owning your own business? There is a strong need for people who can service all of this equipment. The world of small engines is fully computerized and very technical requiring specialized knowledge. In the program you'll learn to repair and maintain the latest innovations in ATVs, snowmobiles and residential and commercial groundskeeping equipment. Our Small Engine Mechanic program could give you control of your future in an environment that's fun and fast paced. In just 28 weeks, or two semesters, you'll be ready to roll.

What's special?

You will be learning from highly qualified faculty in our shop that is equipped with up to date equipment provided by manufacturers. When you graduate, you'll have the skills necessary to hit the ground running. And you'll likely be back - our shop is home to dealership training, where technicians from across North America return to get updated on the newest model year.

Careers

 

You'll work for dealerships or manufacturers or at resorts and golf courses. You could also start your own business. And you'll be in demand. Often there are three jobs available for every graduate from this program. The entire recreational technology industry expects to see the creation of 15,000 more jobs in the next five years.
